Nourishing Hair Conditioner
A rich yet lightweight rinse-out conditioner designed to soften, detangle, and smooth hair without buildup. This BTMS-based formula delivers professional slip and shine while remaining gentle enough for regular use. Ideal for normal to dry hair types.
Ingredients
- (All measurements are by weight)
- 9.6 oz Distilled Water
- 2.0 oz BTMS-50
- 0.8 oz Cetearyl Alcohol
- 1.2 oz Argan Oil (or Meadowfoam Seed Oil)
- 0.6 oz Vegetable Glycerin
- 0.5 oz DL Panthenol Powder
- 0.16 oz Liquid Germall Plus
- 0.08 oz Fragrance Oil
- Citric Acid Solution (10%) – as needed to adjust pH
Instructions
- In a heat-safe container, combine distilled water and glycerin. Heat to 170°F.
- In a separate container, combine BTMS-50, cetearyl alcohol, and oil. Heat to 170°F until fully melted.
- Slowly pour the oil mixture into the water mixture while stick blending for 1–2 minutes until emulsified.
- Allow mixture to cool to 120°F. Add DL Panthenol and mix thoroughly.
- Below 110°F, add preservative and fragrance.
- Adjust pH to 4.5–5.0 using small amounts of 10% citric acid solution.
- Bottle once fully cooled and thickened.
- Target pH: 4.5–5.0 (optimal for hair cuticle smoothing)
- Conditioning System: BTMS provides detangling and softness
- Structure Agent: Cetearyl Alcohol enhances thickness and creaminess
- Oil Choice: Argan = lightweight + shine - OR - Meadowfoam = long-lasting smoothness

Troubleshooting
Too Thick?
Reduce cetearyl alcohol by 0.1–0.2 oz.
Too Thin?
Increase cetearyl alcohol slightly.
Feels Heavy on Fine Hair?
Reduce oil by 0.3 oz.
Separation Occurring?
Ensure both phases reached full 170°F before emulsifying.
pH Too High?
Add citric acid solution gradually and retest.
