Botanical Scalp Refresh Shampoo
A clarifying yet balanced shampoo designed to refresh the scalp without stripping the hair. This clear botanical formula provides a deeper cleanse while maintaining softness and shine. Ideal for oily scalp types, product buildup, and weekly reset washes.
Ingredients
- (All measurements are by weight)
- 8.2 oz Distilled Water
- 3.5 oz Decyl Glucoside
- 2.5 oz Coco Glucoside
- 0.5 oz Aloe Vera Liquid (1X)
- 0.4 oz Vegetable Glycerin
- 0.25 oz Xanthan Gum (clear grade recommended)
- 0.16 oz Liquid Germall Plus
- 0.08 oz Essential Oil Blend (Rosemary + Tea Tree recommended)
- Citric Acid Solution (10%) – as needed to adjust pH
Instructions
- Combine glycerin and xanthan gum to form a smooth slurry.
- Add distilled water and aloe vera liquid slowly while mixing to hydrate and thicken.
- Gently stir in decyl glucoside and coco glucoside. Mix slowly to minimize foam.
- Add preservative and essential oils. Stir until fully incorporated.
- Test pH and adjust to 4.5–5.0 using 10% citric acid solution.
- Bottle and allow 24 hours for full viscosity stabilization.
- Target pH: 4.5–5.0 (slightly lower to support scalp balance)
- Surfactant Level: ~37% total surfactants for stronger cleansing
- Botanical Support: Aloe provides soothing hydration
- Preservative: Liquid Germall Plus (add below 122°F)
- Shelf Life: 9–12 months
- Storage: Store away from heat and direct sunlight

Troubleshooting
Feels Too Stripping?
Reduce coco glucoside by 0.2–0.3 oz and increase water accordingly.

Essential Oils Separating?
Ensure thorough mixing; keep total EO usage under 0.5%.
Scalp Irritation?
Lower essential oil percentage and confirm pH is within range.
