Clarifying Scalp Exfoliating Serum
A lightweight scalp treatment designed to help reduce buildup, excess oil, and flakes. This salicylic acid-based formula gently exfoliates the scalp while niacinamide and panthenol support balance and hydration. Ideal for oily or congested scalps.
Ingredients
- (All measurements are by weight)
- 11.0 oz Distilled Water
- 1.0 oz Propylene Glycol USP
- 0.8 oz Niacinamide Powder
- 0.5 oz DL Panthenol Powder
- 0.5 oz Salicylic Acid Powder USP
- 0.5 oz Polysorbate 20
- 0.16 oz Liquid Germall Plus
- 0.04 oz Fragrance Oil (optional)
- Citric Acid Solution (10%) – as needed to adjust pH
Instructions
- In a separate container, dissolve salicylic acid in propylene glycol. Stir until fully dissolved.
- In a clean mixing container, combine distilled water, niacinamide, and panthenol. Mix until dissolved.
- Add the salicylic acid/propylene glycol mixture to the water phase and stir thoroughly.
- If using fragrance, pre-mix with Polysorbate 20 and add to batch.
- Add preservative.
- Adjust pH carefully to 3.8–4.2 using 10% citric acid solution. Test and adjust slowly.
- Bottle in dropper or nozzle applicator bottles.
- Target pH: 3.8–4.2 (required for salicylic acid efficacy)
- Function: Salicylic acid exfoliates and helps reduce buildup
- Support Actives: Niacinamide + panthenol help soothe and strengthen

- Usage: Apply to dry scalp before washing. Leave on 5–10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

Troubleshooting
Salicylic Acid Not Dissolving?
Ensure fully dissolved in propylene glycol before adding to water.
pH Too High?
Salicylic acid will not function effectively above 4.5.
Scalp Sensitivity?
Reduce salicylic acid to 0.3 oz for milder treatment.
Cloudiness Occurs?
Verify full dissolution of actives.
